Plain area with normal vegetation is simple to be mapped. In this project the main objective was to carry out aerial mapping of a big land in remote area covered with a very high vegetation and hilly terrain. This was for the study, measurements and analysis of the area for establishment of railway line and station. This project requires higher accuracy and due to dense vegetation it is difficult to detect ground control points in the imagery for further processing. We use different approaches for efficient data acquisition marking recognizable entity as ground control points. Normally 200 to 300 feet of height is considered as ideal height for drone to optimize the ground sampling distance but this height was not feasible for us there so we go higher here. Most challenging work was data acquisition after this we process the data as whole and mission-wise as well. Since the areas to be mapped were big, we stitch the outputs.
